The iconic Queenslander home is set to shape the design of the Brisbane Stadium
The architects who will deliver our state’s biggest sporting and entertainment venue have been appointed, and they have a uniquely Queensland vision.
Two Australian-founded architecture firms, COX and Hassell, have been appointed to deliver the 63,000 seat Brisbane Stadium, in partnership with Japan’s Azusa Sekkei.
The architecture teams have a proven track record of creating world-class venues, having designed Perth’s Optus Stadium and the redeveloped Adelaide Oval.
The stadium’s design will reflect Queensland’s unique character and lifestyle, with the iconic Queenslander home a central motif.
The new stadium is set to host the opening and closing ceremonies and athletics at the 2032 Games, before becoming the city’s main stadium and serve as a fitting home ground for local sporting teams Brisbane Lions, Queensland Bulls and Brisbane Heat.
