New renders drop for the National Aquatic Centre

With just six years to go until the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Queenslanders can now get their first look at the early design concepts for the National Aquatic Centre (NAC).

The newly released renders showcase a striking venue inspired by the flow of water and the surrounding parklands of the Victoria Park Precinct. Designed to sit within the landscape, the centre features a distinctive floating roof, expansive green spaces and three new covered pools that will support world-class competition and everyday community use.

Importantly, the project will restore the heritage-listed Centenary Pool complex, preserving one of Brisbane’s most loved aquatic destinations for future generations.

Following an extensive six-month selection process led by GIICA, nationally recognised design team ARM Architecture and NH Architecture, partnering with Queensland-based Arkhefield, has been appointed to bring the vision to life. They bring combined expertise in major sporting venues, public architecture and aquatic facility design.

The National Aquatic Centre is planned to host swimming, diving, water polo and artistic swimming during the 2032 Games before becoming a long-lasting place for fitness, fun and family.

With early works beginning later this year and construction scheduled to commence in 2027, delivery of the National Aquatic Centre is continuing to move forward on the path to 2032.
