This past year, we’ve hit the ground running. And we’re just getting started.
Queensland has made huge strides towards the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. From establishing GIICA, passing key legislation, funding over 100 grassroots projects and getting planning and works underway for major venues, we’re delivering a plan for Queensland’s future.

Looking back at what we’ve achieved since Queensland was chosen to host the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, we've had a big year of delivering a future Queenslanders can be proud of.
Key milestones
- Establishing the Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority (GIICA) and completing the 100 Day Review, setting a strong foundation for delivery.
- Releasing a roadmap for the Games delivery, outlining the path ahead for venues and infrastructure.
- Passing new legislation to streamline the delivery of legacy infrastructure, ensuring efficient planning and maximising community benefits.
- Funding over 100 Games On! Projects supporting grassroots sports and community clubs across Queensland.
- Funding committed for major transport upgrades, including Bruce Highway improvements and the Sunshine Coast’s ‘The Wave’ project.
- Signing a landmark agreement with the Australian Government, unlocking funding for 17 new or upgraded venues across the state.
- Commencing procurement for Gabba Entertainment Precinct and four venues, with principal architects sought for Brisbane Stadium and the National Aquatic Centre.
- Announcing the transformation of the Brisbane Showground, which will create new opportunities for the community and Games legacy.
- Appointing Arup as principal contractor for the Victoria Park Precinct Master Plan
